This is one of the greatest recent essays on the history of winemaking in the Mosel. It was written by Joachim Krieger, a scholar living Germany who we know by reputation only. The article was commissioned by the now-defunct Mosel Wine Merchant and published in its 2009 catalogue. It was beautifully translated from the German by Dan Melia and Lars Carlberg, who deserve much praise for their work. Click here to travel back in time.
