Mosel Fine Wines | The 2022er Weissburgunder (the reference to the name is, as usual for this Estate, only provided on the back label) with lot number L. 22WB is a bone-dry wine made from fruit harvested in two parcels of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented and aged on its gross and fine lees in a mix of oak and stainless-steel tank without any intervention for 15 months (10 months in wood and 5 months in stainless-steel tank) before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal SO2 added (total SO2 is 14 mg/l). This yellow-colored wine offers a superb and subtly smooth nose made of greengage, mirabelle, citrusy elements, cream, sage, chalky minerals, smoke, and only a tiny hint of funk. The wine is deliciously smooth at first but offers huge precision and cut on the bone-dry palate. The finish is all about a subtle and very engaging cocktail of fruits, herbs, and minerals. This is a superb expression of Weissburgunder. | No. 72 Sep 2024 |
