The Felsenfest 2023, as it is simply written on the consumer label, is a tank-fermented and matured bone-dry wine (with 3 g/l of residual sugar) made from fruit harvested in the Kröver Steffensberg (2/3), the Trarbacher Schlossberg (1/6), and on young vines in the Wolfer Goldgrube (1/6). It offers a very fresh and pure nose of minty herbs, smoke, lily flower, lime tree, white minerals, spearmint, and thyme. The wine is straight and racy on the palate, with plenty of spices and white orchard fruits giving it a precise and animating feel. The finish is pure as fresh water and exhibits flintstone, lime, and anise. There is just a touch of tartness in need of integration. This fully bone-dry and racy Riesling is mouthwatering and complex.
