Mosel Fine Wines | The 2022er Müller-Thurgau (the reference to the name is, as usual for this Estate, only provided on the back label) with lot number L. 22MTH is a bone-dry wine made from fruit harvested on un-grafted vines in a steep part of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented and aged on its gross and fine lees in a mix of oak and stainless-steel tank without any intervention for 15 months (10 months in wood and 5 months in stainless-steel tank) months before being bottled unfiltered and with minimal SO2 added (total SO2 is 24 mg/l). This white-hay-colored wine offers a beautiful nose made of mint, pear, citrusy elements, a well-integrated touch of funk, and whipped cream. It is beautifully racy and precise on the complex palate and leaves a great sense of sage, greengage, citrusy fruits, and “natural funk” in the long and engaging finish. This is a beautiful wine with zest and funk to enjoy over the coming years. | No. 72 Sep 2024 |
