If there is a more real canned wine project, I haven’t seen it. Also how cute is that puppy?
Among the things I love about Companion is the spirit of collaboration, the inventiveness… but also the rigor. All of these wines are farmed organically at a minimum, all of them go through natural ferment and are canned with low sulfur. All of them are certified delicious.
They are made by some of California’s best – Scott Schultz of Jolie Laide, Gina Giugni of Lady of the Sunshine and Ryan Stirm of Stirm Wine Co.
CHECK OUT THE THREE NEW RELEASES BELOW – THEY SHOULD BE HERE EARLY JUNE! These are silly-limited so for real, let us know ASAP if you want!

2019 Companion Wine Co. – Ryan Stirm – “Vitamin R” Rosé ~$10/can
“This is our 2nd vintage making ‘vitamin R’ Rosé and once again it’s 95% organic Riesling on granite from up in the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey Co. By far our most popular and crushable wine, pour this for your friends who claim they don’t like Riesling. Best served straight out the can! Perfect for social distance hiking, breaking into hotel pools, or mowing the lawn.”
2019 Companion Wine Co. – Lady of the Sunshine – “Savvy B” ~$12/can
“This is our 2nd vintage working w/ Gina and her organic Sauvignon Blanc from Edna Valley. No Chardonnay was blended in this year so the wine is a little bit leaner and brighter than the 2018. Gina grew up on a Bio-Dynamic farm in the Sierra Foothills and is currently solo farming a vineyard down in Edna Valley which should get Bio-Dynamic certification this year.”
2019 Companion Wine Co. – Jolie Laide – “Skin Contact” ~$12/can
“It only took 3 years but we finally made it happen. The story goes that after the success of our first Riesling back in 2016 we approached Scott about working together with the hopes of making skin macerated Pinot Gris. But, and this is always our biggest challenge, finding organically farmed fruit that is affordable enough to put in can be downright impossible in California. We lucked out and started working w/ Malvasia Bianca from an organic vineyard in Suisun Valley instead. After producing Malvasia w/ Scott the last two years (the 2018 is our best wine of the vintage) we finally came across some affordable organic Pinot Gris right in our backyard of Contra Costa. If you’ve never seen Pinot Gris grapes in person before it’s a trip. They are literally red in color and are perfect for a little skin maceration. Our 2019 was foot stomped and spent a few days on the skins in tank. It has truly beautiful color and texture and is best suited poured into glassware.”
